Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana summer camps have a place for you. Fun is what you’ll find there, but you leave with so much more. Camp is where you grow by doing things you’ve never done before. You can take safe risks in a fun environment, surrounded by strong friends and adults who believe in you.
There’s nothing else like it.
Find freedom and explore. You’ll leave camp with new skills, a happier understanding of our world, amazing friendships, and new confidence from fun adventures: the knowledge, values, and superpowers you’ll use long into adulthood.
Each summer camp season includes a full schedule of overnight camp, day camp, and troop adventure camp! There are lots of options for Girl Scouts to get outside to explore, take the lead, and grow her “I’ve got this” attitude.

Nestled back in Girl Scout Bay on the banks of Kentucky Lake sits Bear Creek Aquatic Camp (an overnight camp near Paducah). This sparkling shoreside camp offers aquatic adventures including sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, and more!

A woodland wonderland awaits campers at Camp Pennyroyal (an overnight camp near Owensboro). The adventures take many forms at the eight-acre Wishing Star Lake (home to amazing, harmless freshwater jellyfish). Stargaze on the dam, explore the hiking trails, or enjoy a campfire at the lakefront amphitheater. Camp Pennyroyal has peaceful escapes and outdoor adventures waiting around every bend.

Summer camp and outdoor fun is never far away when you’re a Girl Scout. I’m on the team of council staff and volunteers who will plan and lead the many camps for 2025. All of us are eager to say “welcome home” to returning campers, and to introduce first-time friends to the magic of camp!
Many of my Girl Scout pals call me by my camp name: “Tinkerbell.” I’m a lifetime member of Girl Scouts, and it started when I was a girl member during my school years. As an adult member, I have volunteered as a troop leader, a trainer, service unit team member, outdoor program leader, and backpacking trail leader across three different Girl Scout councils. Here at our council, I've spent seven summers working at our beautiful Bear Creek Aquatic Camp and Camp Pennyroyal. For summer 2025, I’ll be back at Bear Creek as the Camp Director. A wonderful part of camp is the traditions we keep alive and enjoy each year, and I love many of these greenblooded Girl Scout traditions almost as much as I love working with today’s girls and learning about the interests and culture of their generation. Traditions evolve, but Girl Scout camps today are as magical as ever—a safe space where campers unplug and step joyfully into a world filled with new experiences, skills, independence, laughter, and shared memories with new “forever friends.”
When I am not at camp, I’m a teacher! I serve as a Reading Specialist at a school near Louisville. Previously, I taught elementary school in Jefferson County for eight years. My college degrees are in elementary education and human development, with an emphasis on positive youth development. My graduate school research explored the positive developmental outcomes that young adult counselors can gain through working at summer camp. I am also a certified professional environmental educator.
My family includes my husband, three big kids, two dogs, and two cats. My life, therefore, is full of love, laughter, laundry, and fur. When I'm not working or running “Mom's Taxi Service,” I like to swim, hike, backpack, play with friends, listen to podcasts, read, and sing camp songs. I look forward to sharing your camp adventure this summer!
I am thrilled to be returning to Camp Pennyroyal for a second summer. Camp Pennyroyal is a magical place, and I can’t wait to return to Kentucky and create another magical summer for everyone.
I have held many different positions at Girl Scout camp in the past. I started going to Girl Scout camp as a 4th grader and immediately fell in love with camp and have returned most summers since then. I have been unit staff, backpacking and canoeing trip staff, Waterfront Director, Counselor-in-Training director, Assistant Director and Camp Director. I have worked at camps in several different states and girl scout councils. While at camp, I go by Brook. I am currently working on building an amazing team of staff to join me this summer at Pennyroyal. Together, we will create a wonderful camp experiences that will lead to lots of great memories.
A little more about me when I am not at camp: I am a retired high school special educator and still involved in education as a special education consultant to an independent school in Vermont where I continue to hold my Vermont teaching license. Most often, you will find me outside exploring the hiking trails in Southern Vermont or New Hampshire, kayaking near lakes or ponds, traveling and visiting families and friends. My other hobbies include reading, doing arts and crafts, and swimming or doing water aerobics.
I can’t wait to be back in Kentucky and at Camp Pennyroyal. I am looking forward to singing in the dining hall, campfires, and laughter and voices of campers filling Camp Pennyroyal once more.
